Diethylenetriamine

Details

Chemical properties:
Diethylenetriamine is also called diethylenetriamine and diethylenetriamine, with a molecular formula of C4H13N3. Molecular weight 103.17. It is an aliphatic ethyleneamine with two primary amine groups and one secondary amine group. DETA is a colorless or light yellow transparent oily liquid with a pungent ammonia odor. It is soluble in water, acetone, benzene, ethanol, methanol, etc., difficult to dissolve in n-heptane, insoluble in ether, hygroscopic, and easily absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide in the air. It is strongly alkaline and corrosive to copper and copper alloys. It forms white smoke in the air. The explosion limit in the air is 1% to 10%. It is toxic, and the allowable concentration in the air is 1μg/g. Diethylenetriamine (DETA) is a typical representative of ethyleneamines, mainly used as a solvent and organic synthesis intermediate. Typical application areas include chelating agents, paper wet strength resins, lubricant additives, oilfield chemicals, and polyamides for resins or epoxy curing agents.
Uses:
1.Diethylenetriamine is mainly used as a solvent and organic synthesis intermediate, and is used to prepare gas purifiers (for removing CO2), lubricant additives, emulsifiers, photographic chemicals, surfactants, fabric finishing agents, paper enhancers, aminocarboxylic complexing agents, ash-free additives, metal chelating agents, heavy metal hydrometallurgy and cyanide-free electroplating diffusion agents, brighteners, ion exchange resins and polyamide resins, etc. The color fixative Suprafix DFC can be prepared by the reaction of diethylenetriamine and dicyandiamide: 30.9 parts of diethylenetriamine are added to a reactor with gear stirring, and 24.8 parts of dicyandiamide are added under stirring. When the temperature rises to 100°C, ammonia begins to be released, and then the temperature is slowly raised to 145-160°C, and the material gradually becomes viscous from liquid. After 5-8 hours of reaction, the reactants are released and crushed after cooling. Similar color fixers can be obtained by reacting ethylenediamine, triethylenetetramine, tetraethylenepentamine with dicyandiamide, or by reacting diethylenetriamine with guanidine carbonate. In addition, the viscosity of the products generated varies with the ester ratio of diethylenetriamine and dicyandiamide. This type of color fixer is used for post-treatment of direct dyeing to improve fastness properties, especially water fastness. The water fastness of cotton cloth can be improved from level 1 to level 4-5 by treating with 0.3% color fixer. Diethylenetriamine is a highly active epoxy resin curing agent, mainly used for laminated products, cast products, adhesives and coatings, etc., and the general dosage is 5-10 parts, but this type of aliphatic polyamine is water-soluble and has a high vapor pressure, which is irritating to the skin of operators, so various modified varieties have been developed.
2. Diethylenetriamine is used in biological research. Polyamines inhibit carbonic anhydrase by anchoring on zinc-coordinated water molecules.
3. Ammonia carboxyl complexing agent, solvent for sulfur, acidic gas, dyes and various resins, saponifier for acidic substances, gas purifier. Resin curing agent.
