The pure product is a glossy white leaf like solid. Slowly evaporate at 90-100 ℃. Almost insoluble in water (at 20 ℃, 100mL of water only dissolves 0 00029g), soluble in ethanol and acetone, easily soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, pentosidine acetate, toluene, etc. There is a risk of combustion when exposed to high heat, open flames, or contact with oxidants.

Stearic acid is a widely present fatty acid in nature, and almost all oils and fats contain varying amounts of stearic acid. In addition to being used as an emulsifier for oil-based drilling fluids, it is also used as a vulcanizing agent for natural rubber, synthetic rubber (excluding butyl rubber), and latex, and as a raw material for plastic plasticizers and stabilizers. Used in medicine to prepare ointments, suppositories, etc., as well as in the manufacture of cosmetics, candles, waterproofing agents, polishing agents, etc. This product is used in the food industry as a raw material for lubricants, defoamers, and food additives such as glyceryl stearate, sorbitan stearate, sucrose ester, etc.
