Tetrahydrofuran, abbreviated as THF, is a heterocyclic organic compound. Belonging to the ether class, it is a fully hydrogenated product of the aromatic compound furan.

Tetrahydrofuran is one of the strongest polar ethers, used as a medium polarity solvent in chemical reactions and extraction. It is a colorless and volatile liquid at room temperature, with an odor similar to ether. Soluble in most organic solvents such as water, ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene, etc
