Triisooctylamine is a commonly used amine extractant. It is a colorless or light yellow oily liquid at room temperature. It turns yellow when exposed to light, has a refractive index of 1.4500 (20°C), and is soluble in alcohol. Amine extractants are highly chemically stable, inexpensive, and readily available, and can overcome the shortcomings of phosphorus-containing and oxygen-containing extractants, which are highly water-soluble or have poor selectivity. Amine extractant triisooctylamine has been widely used. In addition, it can also be used as an intermediate in organic synthesis.
